A workforce that’s skilled and highly educated

The backbone of a successful community is its workforce, and we’re particularly proud of what Rush County has to offer. Rush County is a CERTIFIED Work Ready Community. (http://www.workreadycommunities.org/IN/139). We can provide the number of individuals who have earned a National Career Readiness Certificate signifying their skill levels and ability to meet employer needs.

Local residents have a long history of mastery in the type of precision and skills needed for machining, food processing, and logistics companies. We have successfully served the Midwest’s automakers for many years, and have always been a center of agriculture.

A key driver behind our workforce is the recognition that high-quality educational resources are important.  Rush County and the surrounding area offer excellent opportunities for education. Local K-12 schools consistently rank among the state’s best, with graduation rates of 98 percent.

We also have great postsecondary educational resources, including Indiana’s Ivy Tech Community College. Through Ivy Tech, employers have access to customized training that can be delivered either in the classroom or in the workplace (with training incentives available). Our K To SUCCESS EDUCATION COMMITTEE provides myriad career planning initiatives which include teachers and counselors visiting local industries to incorporate skills needed into classroom instruction.
